Practices within the professional boundaries established by the Board of Nursing in assessing patients’ needs, by administering physician prescribed treatments, teaching patients and family members about their disease state and the corresponding treatments and side effects, counseling of patients and family members when appropriate and assisting the physician in the overall care of the patients.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides on-site patient care and infusion services to all patients, including coordination of care with physician, other staff members and ancillary services when needed.
Provides patient teaching to all new patients regarding disease, treatment information, and available support services and counseling options as indicated.
Facilitates communication to resolve patient issues and concerns, review problems with physician team and take appropriate action.
Administers and evaluates new and existing programs/protocols.
Maintains accurate patient charts/records and document nursing actions and functions.
Verifies all doses of intravenous admixtures prepared by technicians.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS: Travel may be required to cover census needs at all locations.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE and REGISTRATION:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Possess a valid and current Arkansas state nursing license.
BLS Certification
Chemo Certification within six months of hiring
Maintain an AR RN License
Ongoing education toward ONS certification
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
2-5 Years’ clinical experience in direct patient care preferred.
Excellent computer and other basic office equipment skills.
Expertise in IV therapy skills and injections preferred.
Maintains hematology/oncology expertise at all times.
Up-to-date knowledge of biotherapy, chemotherapy, and infusion therapy drugs and their potential side effects.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must interact and communicate both verbally and in written form.
Must interact and exchange information regarding patients with physicians and other departmental personnel, and outside agencies on a frequent basis while respecting the confidentiality of patient information.
