Assistant Professor, Mechanical/Civil Engineering
The College of Engineering and Science at Louisiana Tech University solicits applications for a tenure-track faculty position with a concentration in structures and materials related to wood products, timber or other associated areas.
Because this is a multidisciplinary field, candidates must hold a doctorate or equivalent degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or in a field with significant overlap.
Candidates of particular interest include those with demonstrated research accomplishments in the field of structural engineering, including advanced timber composites and an ability to interface with College research centers (https://coes.

Candidates must demonstrate the potential to conduct high-quality research and teaching and show expertise relevant to one or more of these centers.
A new Forest Products Center will focus on solving forest industry problems and advancing the development of novel, sustainable wood products.
Candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses including fundamental mechanical or civil engineering courses like Structures, Materials, Environmental Sustainability or related labs.
Successful tenure-track candidates are expected to participate in multidisciplinary research efforts in the College; initiate, build and sustain an externally funded research program; and supervise masters and doctoral students.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong teaching skills, and a commitment to high-quality university and professional service are also expected.
