Job Summary
The Department of Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) is seeking an Instructor of Theatre in an introductory-level position in a full-time, 9-month renewable capacity.
The successful candidate will teach to the Learning Outcomes established for several Fine Arts general education courses.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities will be:
To teach 4 sections of a variety of general education courses per semester
The successful candidate will need the flexibility to teach Theatre Appreciation (nee, Intro to Theatre), Fundamentals of Acting, Public Speaking, and in some cases, Acting I, based on enrollment and the needs of the Department
Overload course pay and directing a mainstage production opportunities are also available
Qualifications
Minimum:
MA in Theatre from an accredited university
18 graduate credit hours reflected in transcript in: speech & theatre
Work history that reveals prior experience teaching experience in the higher education arena
Must be available to teach both 100% online and in-person classes with the flexibility to pivot any class to hybrid classes, as warranted
Must be able to work in a collaborative team dynamic and follow governing university and departmental policies
Ability to engage students with varying degrees of college preparedness
Preferred:
Proven ability to teach a variety general education theatre courses
4 years of related work experience
Prior experience directing mainstage theatre productions
8 graduate credit hours reflected in transcript in: speech & theatre, speech communication, and/or voice and diction, and/or performance
Ability to instruct online students using a variety of posting mediums.
